A startlingly different colour combination, the Iris hollandica (Dutch Iris) Red Ember will make a striking focal point in your garden. The blooms are a rusty red or coppery brown, with purple and brown tones and the expected golden flash. The leaves are light green, long and slender, creating the perfect background for the flowers. They will look amazing in beds, borders or containers, and would make a stunning addition to spring floral arrangements. These are beautiful plants that are low maintenance and will naturalise well to give you amazing flowers during May and June for years to come.

Iris like full sun or partial shade and an open soil with plenty of humus and good drainage. Ideal for naturalising (leaving in for flowers year after year) in rockeries and edges of borders. Also suitable for containers. Remove faded flowers and apply fertilizer 4-5 weeks after flowering. When clumps become too crowded, lift, divide and replant about 2 weeks after flowering. Why not plant a Winter Corner near the house along with anemone blanda, chionodoxa (Glory of the Snow) and galanthus nivalis (snowdrops).
