Rocky Mountain Juniper
The award winning Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' boasts vivid steel blue foliage making it a stand out tree in any garden.
This Rocky Mountain Juniper is a small cypress like tree with a conical shape often with several main stems combining to form a compact column to 2.5m after about 20 years. The name arises from its geographic origin in the Rocky Mountains from British Columbia to Arizona. In the garden the evergreen steel blue foliage contrasts against the more common green colours making a statement that cannot be missed. The upright pencil shape means Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' has a variety of uses such as growing alone as a specimen, in groups to create a stronger statement, as a thin slender hedge, in a pot or planted symmetrically and geometrically to add formality to a garden layout. Its smaller size makes it an ideal addition to a small garden where it will grow well in well drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded position.
The attractive upright narrow form and vivid foliage make this award winner a must have.

Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' will grow both in full sun or dappled shade in any aspect and it is especially useful in hot sunny sites. It will tolerate most soil types as long as the soil is well drained so that it does not sit in wet conditions.
Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' is a striking tree and can be planted alone, in groups, as hedges or kept in a pot. In a pot a soil based compost should be used with added grit to ensure water drains freely. For the first season in the ground and in a pot water regularly to aid establishment, once established in the ground Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' will be drought tolerant and need very little attention.
Feeding is not required except to aid establishment and in a pot during the growing season. Pruning is not needed other than to trim any branches that fall out the line of the slender columnar shape.
